4th Trimester is the private-pay physical therapy and education initiative serving pregnant and postpartum women across the Greater Charleston Area at every stage of their physical healing and recovery.
Contrary to popular belief, three months is often just the beginning of the body’s road to healing and recovery following childbirth. Too many moms resign to restricted mobility or physical capability because they’ve been told the clock is up on their allocated recovery time.
Limitation and discomfort does not have to be your new normal, mama.
Founded by Dr. Meg Henderson, PT, 4th Trimester is on a mission to challenge and, ultimately, change this damaging perspective around pregnancy and postpartum recovery through empathy, education and physical therapy.
Our practice is here to help moms like you physically heal, regain mobility and, ultimately, move into motherhood prior to or following the months, or even years, after you give birth.
You are worthy and you are worth your strongest, healthiest self, mama.
“I met Meg shortly after sustaining a significant cycling accident during a triathlon event in Charleston. Among several soft tissue injuries, I suffered a small pelvic fracture, hip labial tear and several other muscle strains.
Over the course of our sessions together, Meg worked to not only help me regain my musculoskeletal strength for performance, but also build internal strength through low pressure exercises so critical to the female athlete.
After completing my residency, I moved back to my home state of VA where Meg continued to meet with me via telehealth session in an effort to continue our growth leading up to my first Half-Ironman event.
The telehealth sessions were personalized and very beneficial from both a physical and emotional well being standpoint as I settled into a new life in VA and combated the stressors of training and general life adjustments.
One would think that physical therapy needs to be hands on, and to an extent it does; however, Meg's expertise and compassion for her clients on a personalized level made the telehealth sessions and associated exercises seem like she was right in the room with me.
I would highly recommend seeking Meg's care no matter what your athletic or daily life needs are!”
