Q & A with Dr. Hannah!
Q: Where are you originally from?
A: Norfolk, VA
Q: Where did you go to school?
A: College of Charleston 2006-2010; MUSC 2017-2020
Q: Tell us a little bit about your path to becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy.
A: In 2014, I went through a comprehensive Pilates teacher training program that was more therapy-based and majority of my class were PTs, which was the first time I was introduced to physical therapy and became intrigued and wanted to learn more so decided to apply to school!
Q: What led you to the area of Women’s Health Physical Therapy?
A: With my Pilates background, I tended to drift towards women and pelvic floor/core strengthening. While in school, I noticed how limited the information was for women who were postpartum and there was a gap between pregnancy, giving birth, and returning to exercise and life with a baby. I hope to educate moms on the importance of exercise and how to get back to doing what they love without pain, leaking, or other symptoms!
Q: What 3 words would you use to describe your role as a Women’s Health PT?
A: Compassionate, trustworthy, attentive
Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
A: Go to the beach, paddleboard, work out at my gym, play with my dogs
Q: Best vacation?
A: Driving up the coast of Australia in a camper van with no agenda and stopping at beach towns along the way!
Q: Favorite Food?
A: Pasta or pizza, it’s a toss up but give me all the carbs!
Q: Three things most people don’t know about you?
A: I lived and worked in Australia after undergrad, I LOVE doing puzzles, when I was 16 I thought I could be a model and took modeling classes (my parents obviously didn’t have the heart to tell me that would never happen haha!)
Q: What books are on your bedside table?
A: “Waking Up” - Sam Harris
Q: How did you first learn about 4th Trimester?
A: While I was in school I started shadowing Meg and knew right away I wanted to work with her and help grow 4th Trimester!
Q: Before working at 4th Trimester, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
A: Most interesting job was working at the front desk of a hotel in Australia. You see some crazy things working the night shift at a hotel!
Q: What do you want women to know about what we do at 4th Trimester?
A: At 4th Trimester, we educate moms on how to navigate the early postpartum phase and how to continue to be functional without causing discomfort or pain. We strive to provide our patients with the knowledge on how to return to exercise and activities without symptoms of leaking, heaviness, or pain.
Q: What is your favorite thing about working at 4th Trimester?
A: Educating women to better understand their bodies and providing them with the tools they need to get back to doing what they love while enjoying motherhood!
Q: What is your goal when working with each client at 4th Trimester?
A: Empowering women to take control of their pelvic health and wellness, and seeing them share that knowledge in their communities.
